Labor Day!

On Labor Day, I needed to stop at Wawa to fill up my gas tank. Who wants to work on the last unofficial day of the summer? The teenage attendant was hustling to take care of all the vehicles that were leaving the shore to make their long trek home. And the young man was so polite and attentive to all his customers that a simple $20 bill shocked him and made him smile. “What is this for since you paid by card?”, he asked. And laughed knowing $20 wouldn’t even fill a quarter of my tank. “That’s for you”, I said, “for showing up for work on the day before school starts and handling your business with a smile.” That made his day since most people don’t tip at the gas pump
