Nora Spreads Lincoln’s Love

My 7-year-old daughter, Nora, came to work at BHH with me yesterday and she was very inspired by Lincoln's cards and message. I had mentioned the card to both of my kids last week and told them to think of something we could do, so when she saw the hearts in our office, she was familiar with the idea.

She spent the day in the office making cards of hope for the families we will be supporting this month. She thought about the card for Lincoln and decided she was going to start cleaning for her 80-year-old grandmother every Monday. She had me drop her off at my mom's house on my way home, and she spent over an hour there wiping down the cabinets and the stairs and dusting. When my mom was talking about something else she needed done around the house, Nora said "I'll be back to do that next Monday." She told my mom she was doing it to remember a boy names Lincoln.

She planned an activity for every day of the week to do in memory of Lincoln. Last night when I was wiping off the stove she said, "just leave it, I'm cleaning our house tomorrow."

She also made a copy of one of the cards she was coloring here and took a Love Linc heart so she could take it to camp today and tell the other kids if they wanted to do something kind, they could make cards for families with cancer.

She was very moved by Lincoln's heart, as we all were, and is trying to spread his kindness all around 🙂

It's an amazing thing his family started in his memory. We are blessed to be part of it.
