Sonya’s bright fight

This morning, my daughter and i woke up knowing it was going to be a workday. While we were planning out our day, I mentioned to my daughter Harper that there was going to be an event at Relish for a little girl named Sonya. I told her that Sonya would be there selling bracelets.Of course, Harper immediately asked, What are they for?I pulled up Sonya’s Bright Fight Facebook page and shared Sonya’s story with her. Harper is no stranger to cancer. Unfortunately, she has watched cancer affect and take some of the people closest to her for almost her entire life. Because of that, when she hears that someone is fighting cancer, especially another child, she is always ready to support them, give what she can, or help in any way possible.I told her that if we finished working in time, we could stop over at Relish and buy some bracelets to support Sonya.Then 1:49 came around. Harper stopped right in the middle of cleaning and said, “Mom, do you care if I run over and buy some bracelets? I’ll come right back.” I told her to go for it.What I didn’t know was that before she went, Harper went into my car and grabbed some Love, Linc. cards. I keep them in there because you just never know when you might come across someone who needs a little extra kindness.I had absolutely no idea she had taken them. When Harper came back she had the biggest smile on her face. She was so excited to tell me that she had given two Love, Linc. cards to Sonya’s family.The happiness and pride on her face instantly made me smile. She wasn’t just happy because she had bought bracelets or helped support Sonya, she was genuinely happy because she had been able to give something back and share Lincoln’s light with another family.Later we saw that Sonya’s Bright Fight had posted about the “little girl” who came to their table, purchased bracelets, and gave them the blue Love, Linc. hearts. They didn’t know who she was.That little girl was Harper. 💙And that is when I realized just how special these cards truly are.Today, those little blue hearts helped more than just the people receiving them. They also put a smile on the face and warmth in the heart of the person giving them.Harper was proud to share Lincoln’s light. Sonya’s family was touched to receive it. And as her mom, I got to witness how one small act of kindness can travel from one child, to another family, and hopefully on to someone else.I’m incredibly grateful that Love, Linc. cards exist and that Harper had the opportunity to be part of what they represent.Today she supported Sonya’s Bright Fight, honored Lincoln, and helped keep his light moving forward all because she saw an opportunity to be kind and took it. 💙☀️
